As a trusted global source for health and wellness content, Rodale reaches more than 70 million people in 59 countries each month through its category-leading media properties including Prevention, Women's Health, Men's Health and Runner's World, as well as highly acclaimed books on a variety of health topics. Advertising Age recognized Rodale as Publisher of the Year for 2006.
Deployment Details
Rodale and Pluck originally began work together in 2006 under a BlogBurst Lighthouse partnership. The company launched BlogBurst on RunnersWorld.com to augment existing content with the best blog content from runners around the globe.
In 2007, Rodale made extensive use of the full SiteLife suite for its FindYourDetour.com destination developed in partnership with GM's Saturn business unit. As the centerpiece for a year-long campaign, FindYourDetour.com successfully demonstrated the relevance and power of Web 2.0 capabilities in building community and online engagement around consumer brands.
Later that year, Rodale further expanded its relationship with Pluck by launching SiteLife on Prevention.com, the companion site to Prevention, the #1 healthy lifestyle magazine brand and the 10th largest magazine in the nation. The SiteLife social media suite enabled the 1.6 million unique, and primarily female, visitors per month to contribute their own content via blogs, photos, ratings and comments resulting in a vibrant community focused on wellness. Next, Rodale launched SiteLife comments and recommendations on its MensHealth.com site, the supplementary site to Men's Health, the world's largest lifestyle magazine with a readership of 18.5 million.
In Spring of 2008, RunnersWorld.com launched Pacesetters, developed in partnership with Adidas. The “question and answer” microsite is powered by Pluck and brings together the collective voice of the running community to share their personal stories. Rodale plans to roll out additional Pacesetters sites (in foreign languages) for Germany, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Sweden and the UK. Pluck will power these sites, as well.
By selecting Pluck as its social media partner, Rodale was able to build community, boost site traffic and increase user loyalty across a wide demographic spectrum.
