Pluck Launches Free Browser Companion Application to Improve Online Information Management

Developers of Early Web Browser, Instant Messaging, and Real-Time Collaboration Applications Make it Easier to Search, Retrieve, Organize and Share Internet Information

AUSTIN, Texas — May 24, 2004 — Pluck Corp., a software company dedicated to making it easier to find and manage Internet information, today unveiled the Pluck web browser companion application, which greatly improves the way users search, retrieve, organize and share information found online. The new application, which integrates with Microsoft Internet Explorer, is available for free and can be downloaded from www.pluck.com.

As people rely more and more on web information for both personal and business use, they realize the process of gathering, storing and sharing it is cumbersome, involving many different websites and multiple applications, including web browsers, e-mail systems and file management applications. Pluck provides a rich set of capabilities that solve this problem — all in a single application integrated into the most commonly used web browser, Microsoft Internet Explorer. Features available in Pluck include:

Pluck was founded in 2003 by Dave Panos and Andrew Busey, two software industry executives who have pioneered several important Internet communication and collaboration technologies. Mr. Busey's innovations include helping to commercialize the first web browser, Spyglass' Mosaic (now part of Microsoft Internet Explorer); creating iChat, one of the first instant messaging applications; and designing WebCenter, the first major Web-based customer service technology. Mr. Panos has championed the delivery of several web technology breakthroughs, including the creation of the industry's first web-based real-time collaboration server, which became the foundation for the Lotus Sametime product suite.

"Consumers and business users are looking for an easier way to find, use and share online information from a variety of sources," said Dave Panos, CEO of Pluck Corp. "Pluck answers the call by bringing users the best of the web through their favorite browser — for free."

Availability

The Pluck web browser companion is currently available and can be downloaded for free at www.pluck.com and CNET Networks' Download.com.
